Liana Therapy Center is a Ghanaian NGO and the CSR wing of Mission Pediatrics, a

Neurodevelopmental Practice in Ghana. Together with our partners, Prof Mamudu Abunga

Akudugu, Katherine Kaunza -Nu-Dem Millar, Klicks Africa Foundation, Millar Open University

and Rise Ghana, we successfully completed a Neurodevelopmental outreach in Bolgatanga

in August of 2023. The need for special services and therapists to support children with

various neurodisabilities including Autism was highlighted. The 5 northern regions of Ghana

have only one speech therapist to serve a population of over 6million Ghanaians. The

burden of disability is much higher in this region because of stigma, lack of early detection

and early intervention and general scarcity of resources.

Liana Therapy Center and partners wish to continue annual outreaches in the Northern

region of Ghana. We also wish to raise funds to support two candidates from Bolgatanga to

take the Msc speech therapy program to enable them go back and serve the community.

Lastly, we want to raise funds to employ two speech therapists immediately to support

children and families with communication neurodisabilities who were identified during our

last Bolgatanga medical outreach. These children have not had any intervention and

continue to face negative challenges due to their inability to communicate. The burden on

families who are already impoverished is heartbreaking.
