Speech Therapy in the Philippines!

Hello everyone!
Our names are Breeana Randall, Heidi Diaz and Tiffany Ascha-Malas and we are second year graduate students in Chapman University’s Communication Sciences and Disorders program!
We are about 4 months away from being official Speech-Language Pathologists, but before we finish school, we were asked to be a part of an incredible opportunity to join a group in the Philippines to provide speech therapy services to children with physical and cognitive impairments who may be unable to communicate verbally.
The purpose of this trip would be to introduce and facilitate the use of low-tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices (i.e. communication boards, communication books) to the children at Pedya Kamp, a summer camp for children with special needs in the Philippines. Many of these children are from poverty-stricken areas that have never had access to speech and language services, so this AAC intervention will provide them with a simple, accessible, and convenient system designed for functional communication - we would be a part of helping them “find their voice!”
In order to accomplish this goal, we are asking for financial support to help us with our journey! This support would go toward the cost of airfare, therapy materials, equipment, transportation, and lodging, as well as any additional financial challenges that come our way. Please keep in mind that every donation, no matter how big or small, counts and can go a long way!
