Hello, my name is Ed Sulpice and I am the Pastor at Speed Memorial Church in Sellersburg, Indiana. We are a non-denominational congregation committed to expressing the love and unity of Jesus within our church family and in our community.
In 2024 our church building will turn 100 years old. It is a solid structure, but after 100 years it is in need of some serious repairs. Our desire is that SMC can serve this community for another 100 years. Throughout its history, this iconic structure has come to symbolize hope and love to the Sellersburg community. In response to the building's needs, the church family is undertaking the completion of the following repairs:
Steeple-- The 100-year-old steeple is leaning about 5 degrees to the West. The original beams that support the steeple are bowing under years of weight. An engineer has developed a plan to straighten and stabilize the steeple. In its current condition, the lean threatens not only the roof but the stability of the whole church.
Stained-glass Windows-- the frames and protective coverings around the Stained Glass Windows have deteriorated to the point where they now threaten the windows rather than protect them.
Stucco-- significant portions of the stucco around the church are fracturing and need to be replaced.
Doors and Window Frames-- Various doors (including the front doors) need to be straightened and have hardware upgraded. Many window frames are broken and deteriorating.
