Spending a Summer of Service in India
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Brody Witt, I am studying to be a Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. As part of my seminary formation and education I am asked to spend a summer outside of a parish. It was suggested to me by a priest who works at the seminary to spend my summer working with the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa's sisters) in Calcutta, India. When the suggestion was first proposed to me I was hesitant to go, but after much prayer and thought I realized that not only would this be a great opportunity to serve some of the poorest people in the world, but I also hope to grow spiritually in my relationship with God through the great work that was started by St. Teresa of Calcutta. During this time, I have been meditating on Matthew 25:31-46 especially on the famous words "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me." I know that the work that I intend to embark on is going to be very difficult and will stretch me as an individual like nothing I have done before and even though there will be many challenges, I know that this is where God is calling me to go. I hope to spend eight weeks working in their hospice center as well as in their orphanage and wherever else the sisters might want me to be. Even though this is part of my seminary education, I am in charge of raising the funds to get to India. I have budgeted $3000 to pay for my flight, the hostel that I will be staying at, my food, and any other expenses that may occur during the eight weeks that I will be there. If you are unable to support me financially I ask that you please share this on your social media which would be a great help, and know that I will keep you all in my prayers.
