Spider Parks Repatriation Funds (GOAL MET)

For many MACV-SOG recon men, Spider was the voice from Heaven (Covey Rider) reassuring them “Don't worry. We'll get you out". Now his family needs help with the funds to bring him home.

In mid-September Spider fell and sustained a serious head injury while on a business trip to the Philippines. After six weeks of fighting to recover, he lost the battle on October 29.

The prayers and support of his Special Forces brothers has been amazing since day one, but more help is needed. At the time of his death his wife Lucia was on a flight to join him in the Philippines. Acting quickly, his SF friends in the PI met her plane and are supporting her as she navigates the complex and expensive process of getting Spider’s body repatriated to the U.S.A.

Spider entered the Army in 1958. A few years later he earned his Special Forces "S" identifier (September 1960) in Bad Tolz, Germany, before SF had a formalized school. He retired in December 1987 in Korea after more than 29 years of service. His Special Forces assignments included (not a complete list) 10th, 12th, 5th, 1st and 7th Groups.

He's returned to Vietnam several times in an attempt to learn the fate of two of his Recon Team Idaho members, SSG Bob Owens and SFC Glen Lane, who went MIA on 23 May 1968.

He has an extensive network of friends around the world, and was always the first to step up and help others. With your help, we can bring him home.
