Help Spike beat Colon Cancer!

Donation protected

Family & friends,

It is with a heavy heart but an even greater faith that we write the youngest of us, everybody’s little BIG brother, Arthur “Spike” Ripley has stage IV colon cancer. This may come as a shock to many of you. It surely has been for our family.

Spike first started seeing signs in 2019 with abdominal pain and changes in his bowel movements. He then noticed that he was increasingly tired during rugby practices.

Concerned for his health, Spike went to see a doctor where he was diagnosed with Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Talk of cancer did not even occur to medical professionals because of his age.

Although living with IBS was not ideal, it was a relief to finally have a diagnosis. Over the next few years, he would watch his diet and avoid any triggers. However, after 3 years of battling this disease he finally came to the realization that maybe there was something else going on. On top of the pain and bowel movements, he was also losing weight very fast.

April 24, 2023 he had his first colonoscopy and on May 1st he was diagnosed with colon cancer - stage unknown.

On June 13th, 2023 he had a PET scan to determine the extent of the disease.

On June 16th, 2023 it was confirmed that the disease had spread to his liver.

Over the next few months the plan of action is to start chemo to shrink the tumors in his colon. Once that is done, he will have surgery to remove part of his liver and whatever is necessary from his colon.

Spikes spirit is stronger than ever. He is walking with God daily and believing for total healing and restoration. He knows that the God we serve is faithful and can do all things.

If you are reading this and you feel moved to donate to his cause please know that every gift is prayed for and appreciated. All donations will be used to offset the cost of his medical expenses, travel, and living expenses.

If you are unable to give at this time, know that we understand and only ask that you pray for his journey.

Here are a few things we are praying for:
-total healing and restoration of his colon and liver
-strength to withstand chemo
-clarity on all medical decisions
-medical staff and their wisdom
-All financial needs be met

There has been a rise of colon cancer in young adults, according to new statistics from the American Cancer Society, the proportion of colorectal cancer that occurred in people under age 55 doubled between 1995 and 2019, from 11% to 20%.

Spike’s encouragement for young adults is
if you are having any symptoms of colon cancer: please go and see your primary physician for a colonoscopy referral.

Thank you for your love, prayers and support. I love you all & God bless you❤️
