Spinal Accident Dad, Dave needs your help
Donation protected
A very SPECIAL family needs your help.
I am asking on behalf of very dear family and friends....
15 years ago, Dave was selflessly helping others with their sick horse when the horse collapsed and rolled on top of him resulting in severe spinal injuries and crush injuries to his pelvis, hips and legs. In an instant his life- and that of his family- changed forever. He was only 39.
Due to the extent of his injuries and surgery complications, Dave requires full time 24/7 high level care for the rest of his life.
The family desperately need help to raise funds for a purpose built bedroom extension to allow for the large medical equipment required (ICU bed with air mattress, shower bed trolley and a large supine hoist [with room to manoeuvre. ]
Dave currently lives in chronic disabling pain and has been bedridden for over a decade as he is unable to sit. He can only leave his bedroom by ambulance - flat on a stretcher with an authorised paramedic in attendance and does so only for his medical appointments. Simple pleasures in life such as going out for dinner, movie or even a coffee with his wife and daughters are not possible for Dave. His life is very limited and he lives in his bedroom full time. His wife has constantly been by his side providing full time, 24/7 care for the last 15 years. They have contracted Carers who come in to help Sam, as Dave requires two person assist for all his daily support care needs and transfers.
Dave and Sam and their entire family are loving and caring and always doing things for other people. They are generous to a fault and now it is time for them to need our help in return.
Their home was built in the 80's and was not designed to house someone with a disability. Dave's room is smaller than that of a single nursing home room. He is only 54 years old and to be placed in an Aged care facility would be devastating. Their greatest wish is for Dave to be able to continue to receive the high level of individual care he requires and for him to remain living at home surrounded by his loving wife, friends, family, pets and Carers.
