Spinal Surgery for Little Miss Maddy
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my partner and I have unfortunately had to make a gofundme for our little dog Maddison. Here’s a bit about our situation..
A month ago, I had rushed our little girl to the emergency vet due to her becoming hunched over and in pain. The vets weren’t able to determine what had happened so we made an appointment with our own Vet the next day. He was able to diagnose her with a slipped disc but he did not think she needed any further treatment other than two weeks of crate rest which we did. About 4 weeks later on the 16th of December about 30 minutes after she had returned from an easy walk she was unable to use her back legs properly. We again took her to the emergency vet where they have assumed one of her discs in her spine has ruptured and is now pressing against her spinal cord. They have classed her as a grade 2-3, 5 being completely paralysed. There may also be a chance that it could be a tumour growing in that area but right now they’re not completely sure. The vet has decided that her best chance is for them to perform the CT and then most likely Spinal Decompressive Surgery as soon as possible. If the surgery is not completed, she most likely will end up at a grade 5 and needing a wheelchair. In total this is going to cost at most $6500
Soooo now we’re here and it’s all become very costly. Due to certain circumstances our savings are low but with some juggling, my partner and I are able to cover 3 quarters of the cost right away but are needing a bit of help with the rest. Maddy is unable to have her surgery until we have all the funds ready.
It’s 100% against our nature to ask for help but when it comes to our little girl, we would do anything. Even though Maddy is 12, she still acts like a 2 year old most days. She’s had two back knee surgeries when she was younger but that doesn’t stop her from outrunning her younger brothers at the park. She’s a little fighter and we both know with this surgery that she will go on to live an active and happy life like she has done previously.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through our situation and we truly do appreciate any help you can give
