Check out Sam's story here:
"Growing up in the slums of Freetown I was adopted at the age of six because my biological parents were extremely poor, and couldn't look after me and my siblings.
I quickly realised that if I was to make it out of that situation I would have to defy all the odds and work harder than anybody.
As I turn nine years old my country "Sierra Leone" took a wrong turn, and a bloody civil war began that lasted 11 years, taking the lives of over 120,000 people and sending two million of our people to be refugees around the world.
My world was turned upside down. I was a victim of the war. I was captured, tortured and punished for being a child in my own home.
It was during those horrific moments that I vowed to spend part of my life helping our younger generations of children to self develop, avoid violence, early teenage pregnancy, knife and gun crime and help to inspire the way we educate
Today I have worked considerably hard, made my way out of dangerous situations, and am able to travel worldwide teaching tennis, signing my autobiography, motivational speaking and enjoying the fruits of my determination, and the will to endure through adversity.
This is what am sharing with the children in Africa and around the world.
Motivate Africa 2022 is to continue to share my experiences and help the younger generations, as well as adults to never stop trying and keep moving forward in a positive, kind and determined fashion.
