On Wednesday we lost my dad Jack.
He was an amazing, loving, and extremely strong man who put up the best fight he could after being diagnosed with Stage 4 non small cell matastasize cancer just 3 short months ago.
For everyone who does not know his story he was diagnosed with cancer in June of this year. My dad was having extreme pain in his back and was having lots of issues with breathing which led to a few ER visits and ultimately CAT scans and a MRI. It took a few days to get results back but when we did we were devastated.
We were first told by his pulmonary dorctor that they found a tumor on his lung after reviewing a CAT Scan and that was so devastating to our family to grasp. If that was not shocking enough, we were called just a few hours later by his doctor who informed us that his MRI results came in and they also found a very large tumor on his spine in his sacrum
Shortly after, my dad had a biopsy scheduled. His pain was so extreme that he was admitted into Hood River hospital so that they could start pain medication so he could make it to the appt for the biopsy.
Once his biopsy was done they urgently admitted him into the Portland Providence Cancer Center for 2 weeks while they worked on pain management & treatment options. During his stay a PET Scan showed that the Cancer had spread to his brain. There were just 2 tiny specks on the frontal lobe of his brain. Once he was stable they released him to go home with continued treatment.
Two weeks later my dad had a small seizure which led him back into the ER. Since he had a seizure the hospital performed a CAT Scan which showed major cancer growth. His cancer spread from 2 specks on his brain to 14 tumors of various sizes in just 14 short days.
It's been a down hill battle since then which has been so extremely hard on our family. My dad's cancer was growing so fast and causing quiet a few health issues that we were informed Chemo and Radiation therapy were not options for my dad.
Unfortunately his battle was rough & a tough journey to go through. His pain was extreme & his voice was not always heard in the medical world. My dad put up the best fight he could to stay here with his family who loved him so much ❤
On Wednesday September 8th 2021 my dad became our Angel
My Amazing mom has provided the upmost care for my dad! She was his everything and her whole life revolved around my dad. He was the only one with a source of income as he wanted my mom to stay home with him. This has left my mom not only heart broken but also needing extra support to give her time to heal and get back on her feet.
We are raising funds to assist with the cost of my dad's funeral and also to help my mom to not have to stress about bills during this time. If you can donate please do and if you can't we understand. Please share our story and help us honor my dad's journey. We appreciate everyone so much!
