SPLC Donations: Chicago Marathon

Tax deductible
Hello,

This October 12th, I will be running the Chicago Marathon. This will be my first marathon, and I want to raise money for an incredible group committed to equality, education, and American rights, the SPLC. It would mean so much to me if you could donate to this hard-working and meaningful organization.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was founded in 1971 to ensure that the equal rights enshrined in federal law and US Supreme Court decisions of the Civil Rights Movement were truly being protected. Although it has "Southern" in it's name, their impact reaches beyond the South. The founders saw how those in poverty were more likely to be discriminated against and have their civil rights infringed upon. Less resources meant that people in poverty were less likely to take discrimination cases to court. The SPLC has supported those people and minority groups against white supremacist groups. The SPLC has brought cases to the Supreme Court that have fought against work, gender, race, religious, and sexuality discrimination. The SPLC has also worked to award victims of hate crimes and lynchings and taken groups like the Klan and The Order to court for their violent actions.
You can find more about the SPLC's history HERE

The SPLC also launched "Learning for Justice" in the 1990s, creating and providing FREE resources for schools and teachers, such as lesson plans, documentaries, toolkits, and underrepresented sources. Learning for Justice means a lot to me as someone who sees and understands the importance of teaching accurate and honest history, as well as teaching through evidence-based practices.

Reducing Incarceration, eliminating poverty, and strengthening democracy are just a few of their main goals. Year after year, the SPLC continues to make strides in these areas for the American people. Here is the SPLC's Impact Report from 2023 (2024's report is in the works).

I will have ran 5 half marathons before this full marathon and I am so excited and grateful to run at one of the World Marathon Majors. Please consider donating to the SPLC and Learning for Justice. Whether it is $5 or $100, you are making a difference.

Or maybe you want to donate $26.00 for the 26 miles I will be running ;)

Thank you for supporting this cause! :)
