Spokes for Folks - Recreational Trike Rides

Spokes 4 Folks is a local initiative set up in 2017 ( previously Cycling Without Age) with a view to help and encourage the elderly and infirm to get out and see their surroundings and enjoy some fresh air. Many clients rarely leave their home and our short jaunts through the town and beyond, means that they can enjoy a regular excursion and some extra socialising to brighten up their weekly routine. This service has become so much more important in the aftermath of Covid, as many months of rarely leaving the house or their care home has meant that outings like this have become a real treat.

In August 2019 we changed our name to Spokes 4 Folks and became a registered charity in June 2020. We had become aware that our client base needed to extend beyond the elderly, and we now also welcome disabled adults along with youngsters from Drummond School.

We presently have seven trikes including two set up for wheelchair users, with each trike costing £10,000 to buy. It costs us in the region of £4,000 per year to cover our annual expenses which is mainly public liability insurance and trike maintenance.

All donations, however large or small, are very welcome. If you are in the position to do so, we also offer the chance to sponsor a whole trike for a year for £500. In which case please contact Vonnie Stevenson 07752 947197.
