Spondon Dynamo Falcon's Cyclethon 2023
Donation protected
Son, Dad, Husband, Brother and Spondon Dynamo Falcons manager at the age of 49, a little on the heavy side weight wise and 8 months in to a new replacement left knee, September 2022 diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and needed a new direction in life to reverse the diagnosis. Jan 2023 deciced to do a low carb diet and we are now in May 2023, 3 stone lighter and in remision for the diabetes. What was I thinking when I deciced it was going to be a good idea to do a Cyclethon. I wanted to challenge myself to get in shape so I wasnt classed a the overweight dad of Connor. So here is my plea to all my friends, family, colleagues past and present and local businesses and even businesses far and wide to assist me in my quest to complete the cyclethon. Now for the hows it going to work, on Sat 5th August I will start cycling at 7am with a close friend from my address in Borrowash, Derby and I will commence a circuit of 28k (17.4 miles approx). The challenge is to complete as many circuits as my body will allow in 12 hours. I aim to finish at around 7pm. I cannot offer any assurances that this will be pretty but I have done this circuit on a few occasions (not as many as I would have liked) and has taken me approx 1 hr 50 mins to complete 1 lap. There will be a couple of fuel breaks obviously. Your generosisty would be greatly appreciated and all proceeds are going back into grass roots football and into the account of Spondon Dynamo Falcons U6's for Equipment, Pitch Rentals/Hire, Kits, Referee's and any other costs we require along the way. Any amount however big or small will contribute to these kids not wanting for anything football related to ensure they have everything they need to progress and improve their abilites for our beautiful game. Its all about the team work and the enjoyment and these kids have alot to offer and have enthusiasm is abundance. They would run through fire for each other so a cycle ride from me to them should be a walk in the park eh? LOL
