Sponsor Ralph’s ride & get a defibrillator for JYS
On Saturday the 17th of July our Son Ralph aged 9 has decided to complete a 10 mile cycle ride to raise funds to buy a defibrillator for his school Jessie Younghusband.
Ralph is a big football fan & was watching the Denmark v Finland game when Christian Eriksen tragically collapsed, shocking both players & fans alike. We have since learned that Christian suffered a cardiac arrest & was saved due to the quick action of the team captain & there being a defibrillator at hand on the grounds.
Ralph’s Dad, Dean also suffered a cardiac arrest in 2007 due to a heart condition & again his life was saved by his fast acting colleagues performing CPR followed by the ambulance crew using a defibrillator. Ralph & his sisters Florence & Beatrix are screened each year for this condition which can be hereditary.
If a cardiac arrest arises & a defibrillator is used within 3-5 minutes survival chances can increase from 6% to 74%.
Ralph feels really passionately as do we that every school should have a defibrillator due to the huge number of people on site.
