Sponsored Himalayan Hike on Teesside

Hi, my name is Luke McKendrick, I am wanting to start a fundraising page for my wonderful mother-in-law. She has recently lost her husband to a very difficult battle with cancer, he was a wonderful human being with the biggest heart, we promised him before he passed that we would look after her and that is what I intend to do. Unfortunately she also suffers with cancer and is still receiving treatment, fingers crossed we get her through this as she is an immensely strong woman who won’t let it beat her. Since her husband passed her finances have drastically taken a hit and is making day to day life even harder whilst still mourning the loss of her beloved partner.

Me and my fiancée are wanting to do a sponsored event in the hope of raising enough funds to help my mother-in-law with her financial situation and hopefully make her life easier whilst going through this very difficult moment of pain and grief.

We have had the idea to walk the equivalent altitude of Mount Everest. We currently live in Teesside and in that area there is a place called Roseberry Topping which is a distinctive hill in North Yorkshire, England. Mount Everest sits at 8,849m and Roseberry Topping sits at 320m. This means that it is 27.6 times taller than the Yorkshire hill but our aim is to walk up and down it 14 times which will amount to the total height of the behemoth mountain in Nepal.

It doesn’t feel fair to see a woman who has worked all her life and given everything to her family to now sit and suffer. Please, if you are able, join the cause and let’s allow her to live her life in peace and comfort while she grieves her most precious husband.

We are hoping to complete the sponsored hike in March to give us the time to train and for the lighter nights to arrive to give us more time in the day to complete our mission.
