Sponsored Row in Memory of Harrison Carter
Donation protected
On the 25th July 2016 our beautiful baby boy Harrison was born sleeping. Losing a baby is one of the most painful experience in life, yet it remains a taboo subject. We need to talk about baby loss to raise awareness and funds to improve the care given to families and to continue research to reduce stillbirth locally and nationally.
Having been overwhelmingly supported by our local NHS Queens Hospital Bereavement team we want to raise money for a CTG machine. This machinery has the potential to save a number of babies lives and may stop other families experiencing the pain and suffering of losing a child. The CTG machine aims to minimise human error when interpreting CTG investigations and potentially reduce the chance that reduced movement or a baby in distress is missed.
“Pregnancy losses affects all women from all social backgrounds. Data shows that every day, 14 babies are born asleep in the UK. Although this number has decreased over the past decade, data shows that during 2018, as much as 2,579 babies died across the UK, with 475 deaths occurred in London. Therefore during 2018, data showed that 18% of all stillbirth in the UK occurred in London.
I am passionate about helping couples who have lost a baby and to provide additional support in a subsequent pregnancy. I run a weekly clinic specifically to look after women who have had a previous pregnancy loss.
This go fund me page is seeking financial support to buy specialist computerised CTG machines and improve stillbirth investigations and disseminate lessons learnt to improve patient care. Computerised CTG machines reduced the human error in interpreting a CTG investigation, as they are more effective in identifying sick babies thus this would be escalated to promote earlier delivery. With the NHS budget being so stretched, any donation would be appreciated. Your donation will help a friend, a close or distant relative, a past co-worker, current colleague at work, a neighbor, childhood classmate; chances are we all know someone who has been affected by the loss of a baby. As much as 1;200 babies results in stillbirth. “ – Celia Burrell, NHS Consultant Obstetrician
