Sponsored Skydive in memory of Dorothy Towns❤
Wednesday the 16th of August 2017, a day I will never forget, the day my family life changed forever..
The day we were told mum was suffering with a Stage 4 , the highest and most aggressive type of Brain Tumour called Glioblastoma. That evening we were told mum had roughly 2 weeks too live depending on how effective surgery would be. Mum outdone all time scales we were given time and time again.
Mum underwent numerous operations lasting 7+ hours each time to going through numerous cycles of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy which were effective but obviously came with plenty consequences, some days mum would struggle too even get out of bed, some days she would be so bright, it became our new life. Never knowing but the next day would bring but just forever grateful for having another day.
The average survival time when living with a Glioblastoma Tumour is 12-18 months. Where only 25% of Glioblastoma patients will survive more than 1 year, and only 5% of patients will survive more than 5 years. This being said my mum was an absolute warrior and fought the odds, proving so many professionals wrong literally right up to her last remaining days with us. When she sadly slipped away with her family surrounding her 4 years and 4 months after being diagnosed.
It's now my time too give back too this amazing charity and make my mum proud.. so on the 16th of July 2022, myself and my amazing, outstanding and supportive bestie, work colleague and everything in-between will be taking part in a Sponsored Skydive. Myself and Ailsa would be extremely grateful for any donations, however big or small, too help us reach our goal for this amazing charity.
Thank you so much for taking the time too read, please share too spread our fundraising story❤
