Sponsored Walk for Jubilee field upkeep - 1st May
Donation protected
After last year's successful sponsored walk to raise much-needed funds for a new artificial cricket net we have decided to make the cross-forest walk an annual event. The event raised £2500 in total and we should have the nets installed (subject to planning) by the end of the 2023 season,
This year, Sway Cricket Club has joined forces with Sway Junior Football Club to raise funds to be spent on the upkeep of the outfield. With the increased levels of use from both the cricket and the football club, we are spending around £10k annually just on the outfield. Whilst some of this is covered by grants we still need to fundraise to keep the facility as good as it currently is.
The walk is in full 18 miles from Godshill Cricket Club (SP6 2LN) to Sway Cricket Club across the forest (no roads!). Starting at 9:30am and finishing around 6pm. The walk will be on the 1st May which is a bank holiday Monday.
To encourage as many juniors to participate this year they can complete a shorter walk from the same start point to High Corner Inn (BH24 3QY). The shorter walk is 4 miles and is a lovely walk across the forest.
It's an open event for anyone wishing to participate, we will set off from Godshill Cricket Pitch at 9:30, so meet at 9.15.
We are hoping we will be back in Sway by nightfall....much depends on the navigation of our President Chris Noble!
