As NVC community members, we are seeking to build scholarship support to enable people with financial need to participate in a life changing 8 month program. Peggy Smith and Leah Boyd co-facilitate an annual NVC Integration Program in Southern Maine - this coming program is September 2018 through April 2019. It's an intensive committment to group process over 5 long weekends with regular weekly connection throughout.
Peggy and Leah have in the past - personally subsidized scholarship funding for committed students to deepen their study. All of the past program participants recognized and valued the richness of diversity the scholarships allowed for in the experience and therefore have offered to share the responsibility for raising these funds.
Peggy Smith has studied Nonviolent Communication with Marshall Rosenberg (creator of the work) and a variety of other International trainers. She is a certified training and co-founder of Maine NVC Network. Her passion for teaching and keen interest in connecting people with their innate compassionate nature is palpable. She has also studied with Zen teacher and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh since 1991. She has a deep commitment to peaceful sustainable life enhancing ways of living and she has found this work to be the most powerful process experienced that helps humanity to move in the direction of peaceful sustainability for all.
Leah Boyd is fully immersed in her work as mediator, facilitator and communication skills trainor for the past decade. She is also a NVC Certified trainer and has a passion for helping people find peaceful resolution in their conflicts when all voices are heard and all needs are considered within a supportive structure.
Some direct comments from those in attendence who benefited from the scholarship offering:
"I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to learn a new language - Nonviolent Communication. It is a language where courage and bravery are required of the heart. Growing up in a home where alcohol, drugs and violence were prevelant and I was terrified when things were bad and performing to create an illusion of a perfect family that taught me the language of blame, judgement, right and wrongness.
NVC has helped build my resilience that was relinquished from me when I was young and again when I enterered the instituion of mental illness. Like Marshall Rosenberg said - Never let the institution define you. If we could all learn a language of love, courage and bravery like NVC, would there be a need for diagnostic labels and violence?" - Val P
"The integration experience was nothing short of life changing and powerfully liberating. I felt supported in every step towards realizing my true nature and the true nature of all that is. It was an incredible journey into clearly seeing the intimacy of my relationships with everyone and everything. I'm deeply grateful to the instructors, my fellow travelers and the generous scholarship that made this possible." - Dan D
Those of us already touched by the richness of this are helping to support the desire to raise more funding so this is attainable by a wider audience.
Please consider helping a fellow pilgram grow their ability to surf though life today and help make our world a kinder more gentle place where feelings are understood and needs are met. Your efforts to contribute with finance, prayers or sharing this link are deeply appreciated. It nourishes needs of community, hope, learning, growth, acceptance and understanding.
