Sponsoring our Iranian newcomer family

Hi, my name is Teresa, and I am part of a Group of Five sponsoring a family of three who has fled Iran. If you have been following the news, you know the situation for women in Iran, and it really hit home when my hairdresser told me the heartbreaking story of her sister and family. Their names are Setareh, Behrouz, and Moeid.

In the spring of 2021, our group raised $27,158 to file the paperwork necessary to sponsor the family with the assistance of the Mennonite Central Committee. After more than two years of waiting, in June 2023, we received the exciting news of their arrival – on July 25!

We are reaching out to our community to raise an additional $17,455 now required by the Canadian government. This increase is due their son Moeid now being categorized as an adult.

We would really appreciate your support in raising these funds to help cover the family’s settlement and their first year in Canada.
