Standing Wheelchair for Lindsey (success) HELP FOR NATIONALS
Donation protected
Lindsey was able to receive her standing wheelchair thanks to all of you. Now, she is asking for help to attend National Miss Amazing in Chicago from July 24-29. Any help you can give to help her share her story of mental health care for persons with disabilities would be appreciated! We are so grateful.
Hi, my name is Wendy Spoon and my husband is Ronnie. Our daughter is Lindsey. It is time for her to get a new wheelchair as her current chair is over 9 years old and needs to be replaced. Lindsey's dream is to have a standing feature in her new chair. The retail cost for the chair is $60,000. Insurance will cover all but $25,000. We would love to be able to make this dream a reality for her.
To be able to stand means so much to her. It will allow her to do more at Owasso Community Resources, where she volunteers daily and has for the past 5 years. She will be able to get in the cabinets and use the microwave. There are all kinds of health benefits to standing, but her biggest dream is to be able to STAND beside her cousin, Lara (who is very much like a sister to her), as Maid of Honor when she gets married in January.
We have only had the loaner chair for 3 days and I have not been able to keep her down. Yesterday at church, she was able to stand in worship. She has stood and stood and stood, even to just watch TV. This has been a dream for her. We hope beyond hope that we can make this dream come true.
