Sport Management Gives Back
Donation protected
We are a group of University of Michigan Sport Management students committed to positively impacting our community and passionate about learning more about the nonprofit sector. Through a partnership with the Learning by Giving Foundation, we have been given the opportunity to provide grants to nonprofit organizations in Southeast Michigan who engage and serve youth through sport, recreation and physical activity programs and initiatives. This opportunity will provide us with hands on experience in learning about grant making, philanthropy, and the importance of the non-profit sector. We are hoping to leverage this $10,000 initial grant by raising more funds.
As students of sport business and lifelong sport participants, we recognize the positive impact that sport has made on our lives. Because of this desire to make a greater impact, we are asking for your help to further aid our class in learning through giving back. We are looking for your help to:
1. To supplement the $10 000 grant. We will either provide additional support to our chosen grantee or support another grantee who submits a strong proposal to our class.
2. To help with minor costs we incur to carry out this grant giving by allowing our class to visit some of these impactful local organizations, organize a ceremony to honor the grant recipients, and add to the grant funds available to fund these nonprofits.
We value the power of sport to impact lives in a number of ways including through education, enhancing physical health, youth development, and community building. Our grant-making efforts will reflect these values and you can help make this learning and charitable experience more meaningful by donating whatever you can, big or small.
