Spray Eclipse Port-A-Potties & More

Donation protected
Spray Oregon is a small ranching community, situated on the beautiful John Day River in Eastern Oregon, the population is 160 people. The town has one convenience story, a gas pump and a diner that closes at 6:00 p.m. nightly. The public school has 57 students, K-12.

Our community of Spray could easily experience an overwhelming influx of nearly 12,000 visitors August 18-21 with the much anticipated “Total Solar Eclipse of 2017.” We are in desperate need of additional funds to help provide basic services such as renting port-a-potties and the need to manage garbage removal. Without additional funding, these two services alone will have a devastating impact on our town’s budget for the remainder of the year.

I am a Spray City Council member and I'm inviting YOU to partner with us to help offset the expenses necessary to manage the waste that nearly 12,000 visitors can create. Let’s not “Eclipse” the beauty of Spray.

(OPB columnist, Aaron Scott, recently visited Spray for an Eclipse 2017 meeting and published this radio interview about the challenges facing Spray.)
