Branden Ramos, son of Spread Eagle singer Ray West, was riding his motorcycle when he got struck by a car, by an elderly man who ran a stop sign.

Branden was thrown off the bike and upon impact, suffered a shattered tibia, shattered fibula, broken ankle, as well as compound fractures.

Branden remained conscious, but was considered critical when he arrived at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood Fla, where he was admitted as a trauma patient.

Doctors performed a complex surgery, stabilizing his leg with a device known as an "External Fixator"

Three days after his surgery, Branden was discharged from the hospital, still in a traumatized condition and unaware of how to fully function with the hardware sticking out of his flesh and bone.

Branden currently has no insurance, as he was waiting to meet eligibility requirements from his employer, Starbuck's insurance. He immediately applied for Medicaid, which his hospital assigned social worker said he'd be eligible to receive. Approximately 4 weeks later, his medicaid application was denied, as his Starbucks pay was just slightly over the Medicaid eligibility threshold.

He is potentially able to receive some charity care, but that will only offset some of the costs.

When Branden was released from the hospital, it was because he would receive home care; but ultimately, that was denied as well.
With metal protruding out of his bones and flesh, the hospital sent him home with pain killers that would last 1 week and left him responsible for scheduling his own out patient care, which won't begin until this month on 5/7

Barely able to tolerate the pain of the external fixation hardware, loved ones agreed Branden should be placed back into a hospital for proper, monitored pain management.

Branden was taken to a second hospital, Memorial West Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Florida,

Branden was re-admitted for pain management due to the fixator apparatus going through his heel and lower leg, constantly causing constant excruciating pain.

Branden spent the month of April in this 2nd hospital, receiving pain management, but no additional treatments or physical therapy other than basic personal care.

The hospital staff who interacted with Branden, treated him with complete disregard, then on 5/1, case managers, social workers, and physicians informed Branden he would have to leave the hospital as he was uninsured.

Upon being discharged with no notice, security forced Branden out of the hospital and verbally harassed him by saying he’s trespassing. He and his family had not been informed he was medically cleared to be discharged.

Hospital staff aggressively put Branden in the back of an Uber, carelessly hitting the fixation against the wheelchair during transition to the car, He will have to return in a few days for the consultation with the surgeon who will perform more surgeries or will have to find a doctor closer to where he is staying with his dad Ray West.

Medical bills are mounting. Branden is a great young man who has been trying to lead a responsible life and do all the right things.
Any contribution, even $1-5 goes a long way towards covering medical costs. Anything is appreciated as medical bills currently exceed $85,000 after a month in the hospital and emergency surgery and more surgeries are to come.
