Spring Break College Tour Road Trip

STING, Inc. has been providing quality youth programs for youth in the Middle and High School age group. We are planning our 9th Annual Spring Break College Tours which will take place March 31st-April 4th. As a result of the awareness and exposure that our youth receive during our College tours, we expect our youth to embrace higher education. Most of our youth are first generation college attendees, making themselves a positive example to other youth in the area and in their families. The graduation rate of the high schools in our service area are under 65 percent. Offering our tours affords youth with an incentive to complete high school and attend college. In addition, we offer workshops during our tours where youth learn how a college degree can enhance their lives in the future. We have discovered that this model has afforded youth who might have "thought" of going to college but didn't know where to begin, or that college was for "other people", the opportunity to actually SEE themselves as a college student. We have managed to de-mystify the process for them and have provided a practical solution to a problem some of them and their parents didn't realize they had. We have a proven track record of most of our past attendees attending college at this time and several have already graduated!
