Spring Creek Sports Programs

Spring Creek Charter School began offering after-school sports this school year. Our students have truly blossomed while participating in volleyball, soccer, boys' basketball, girls' basketball, cheerleading, track, flag football, and cross-country.

Spring Creek is a Title 1 school, located in the very rural area of North Lake County in Florida. Eighty percent of our students qualify for free lunch. The low socio-economic situation our students live in is a real hindrance to their ability to participate in school sports. Their rural location creates transportation struggles for their families to attend practices and games. Without the opportunity to participate in middle school sports, our students are reluctant to even try out for high school sports when they leave us to go to 9th grade.

Our school is committed to providing our students with the same opportunities afforded to students at other schools located in more urban areas. However, this is an expensive endeavor. We must pay coaches, purchase uniforms, fund transportation to and from games, and pay referees. We do this without asking our student's families for sports participation fees, as these fees would stop many students from participating.

We would like to raise $15,000 in donations to help us with our first year of sports programming. Moving forward we are hoping to reach out to our community businesses for sponsorships as our program continues to grow. Please consider contributing what you can for this initial donation drive to help our "school in the woods" kick-start our sports program. Our students will greatly appreciate your generosity.
