Greetings, it's David, Assistant Centre Manager at Springwood Little Athletics.

Springwood is a large little athletics centre based south of Brisbane in Meadowbrook with 500 registered athletes aging from 3 to 17.

During late February 2022, floodwaters covered our oval and grounds at Golf Course Drive, Meadowbrook. The floodwaters damaged our club canteen, clubhouse, equipment and maintenance sheds, as well as our oval.

We are only covered by minimal insurance as we are in a known flood zone, so the costs to replace everything lost is sadly up to our centre to source funding.

We are awaiting the waters to finish rising and then begin to subside before we can fully assess the damage but know that -

The canteen will require fridges, freezers, deep fryers, and electrical appliances.
We need to replace office equipment (laptops, printers) as well as office furniture (desks, chairs and storage cabinets) from our clubhouse
We know our diesel mowing tractor will be beyond repair and need replacing.
Long Jump pits will require new sand, and the tartan run-ups will require assessment.
High Jump stations will require concrete slabs and tartan to be assessed and potentially replaced.
Our Discus Cages and Throwing Circles will need the cages assessed, and concrete circles may need replacement.

Our committee and members will be left to clean up the mess from these devastating floods, and our centre will genuinely appreciate any help, big or small towards the cost of recovery.
