London to Paris Cycle for St Mary's Hospice
Donation protected
On 5th June 2024 I am going to cycle, yes cycle from London to Paris. Let me tell you why........
10 Years ago I lost my mum to cancer. It was shit. The world as I knew it completely fell apart, as did I.
In the midst of trying to rebuild life and somehow carry on, Birmingham Hospice (lots of you know them as St Mary's Hospice) offered me counselling. What can I say? In a very horrible time of my life, they provided me with something I can't put into words that well, but they definitely came to my rescue!
So at the end of 2023 it will be exactly 10 years since I last held her hand. I really cannot believe it to be honest, a lot has happened in that time. Lots of you reading this, probably don't even know I've lost her, but I can tell you, I miss her every day, I've needed her advice on many an occasion (mainly, how on earth do I parent!?!?).
I felt like I really needed to mark 10 years somehow.......so this is it! A bloody BIG one! ha! I'm gonna cycle from London to Paris to raise money for a wonderful charity that supports families who have lost or are close to losing a loved one. Their support is truly wonderful.
Those that knew her knew that she was very impulsive and very much went her own way and rarely listened to "unsolicited advice" - sound familiar?!?! ha ha. So I've gone a bit nuts and gone in strong! I've recently started cycling (literally picked up a bike in Oct 22), but this doesn't mean I'm prepared for it, and to be honest, I am mildly terrified about it! It's a flippin long way on two wheels, powered by me! I'm gonna have to find the time to get some serious training in!
The target is a high one, I've got 12 months to do it, so please please, give as much as you can. It really really means such a lot and you're helping families that are just like mine.
I'll get my apologies in now as well.....there's gonna be crying!
All my love
