The Exchange Short Film

Concept
The Exchange is a short film about two strangers becoming unknowingly connected through a pair of thrifted heels.
Charlie is an up-and-coming fashion model, but she’s frustrated with her lack of control in her own life. In an attempt to regain that control, she starts selling pairs of heels that she gets for free. Robin is a struggling college student, who recently got a job as a hostess and desperately needs a pair of heels. Over a series of events, Charlie and Robin continue to run into each other. Are they too different to understand each other, or are they exactly what the other person needs?
Meet Our Team
Meet the foundation of our film! They work closely together on creative, logistical, and technical decisions. They also lead the cast and crew of other Emerson students to bring the vision to life!
Lucile Lyon is the writer, director, and creative producer of The Exchange. She is a VMA senior at Emerson College. She produced two short films, Growing Greed and The Crickets last semester. For those productions, she negotiated for filming locations, assembled a shooting crew, organized long-distance traveling, and more! This is her directorial debut and final project at Emerson College.
Jasmine Bonds is the lead producer on The Exchange. She is a VMA junior at Emerson College. Last semester, she produced three short films, The Crickets, The Red Dot Special, and Episode 51: The Dead Road, Pt. 2. Her role on The Exchange includes locations, permits, crafty, and more.
Grant Morris is the director of photography and editor of The Exchange. He is a VMA senior at Emerson College. He has been the cinematographer for many short films, including Episode 51: The Dead Road, Pt. 2, Labyrinth of Mine, and Killing Calories. He was the cinematographer and editor for Growing Greed and Five Fingers of a Dog.
Director’s Note
I was inspired to write this project after my grandma told me a story about finding multiple pairs of brand new pairs of shoes at her local thrift store. I asked myself: why would someone donate multiple pairs of nice, new shoes? I wanted to tell a story that showcased how people from different walks of life can become connected through something incredibly simple.
This project is the first and last project I will direct while I am still a student at Emerson College. I started at Emerson in the Fall of 2021 and was so busy working with student organizations and on friend’s projects that I never made the time to make something of my own. Now that I am going into my final semester at Emerson, I want to write and direct my own project, so for that reason, it means a lot to me personally. Whatever you are able to donate, I would really appreciate it :) Thank you!
