Support Lauri during her recovery

As most of you know by now, Lauri was involved in an accident leaving her with two broken legs and currently not able to work due to her current medical condition. On August 7, 2023, she was walking along Route 11 (Winchester Avenue) In Martinsburg WV and was struck by a vehicle. Lauri was rushed to Berkely ER where the physician’s thought it best to transport her to West Virginia University medical center to where she was admitted to the SICU (surgical intensive care unit).

Lauri was not able to be transported right away due to some medical concerns. Also, she was not able to be flown due to storms and the warnings for tornados that night, so the 2 ½ hour ambulance ride was excruciating. Upon arriving and the staff completing their initial assessments going into the morning of August 8, 2023, Lauri finally had her first surgery to debride (clean and scrub) her cuts, scraps, and broken bones. Then the following day, an additional surgery to fix the broken bones, leaving a definitive outcome of additional surgeries.

The last surgery a stabilization bar was put in place in her left leg, which starts at her upper thigh (femur) down to her shin bone just above her ankle that keeps her leg perfectly straight. This bar is also used as a means to move her leg around when needed. When I say to move around, I mean, when she uses the restroom, she must transfer to a bedside potty and must pick up her leg by the bar to move her leg where she needs it to go. Or, when Lauri must go to her medical appointments, she transfers to the trunk of her SUV by lifting her leg by the stabilization bar using all of her upper body strength since her right foot is broken as well.

Please help Lauri during her intense recovery time. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will help Lauri pay for trips to Morgantown to continue her medical care, and help her with anything else she may need during this time. Please don't think that any amount of money is too small. Honestly, $5 is plenty. You shouldn't feel you have to give any more than that. I believe there are enough people who care about Lauri that with $5 each, we will can all help Lauri easily.
