Kindness for Kelly

Donation protected
Kelly McDowell is the most resilient, smart, beautiful 28 year old we know. Kelly was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2002. She lead a relatively healthy, vibrant life until 2016.

In 2016, her condition started to deteriorate when she started having complications. Sadly, in 2018 Kelly lost 85% of her vision and is when she was told she would need a kidney and pancreas transplant from the same body to live a healthy life moving forward. Then, in November 2019, she began dialysis three times per week through May of 2022.

Finally on May 23, 2022 Lehigh Valley called to say they had the essential organs Kelly had been waiting two long years for. She went in for the surgery on May 24th and began her rehabilitation journey the very next day.

The road to recovery has been tough. In August, Kelly started having complications and ended up with a bone infection leading to the eventual amputation of a toe on her right foot.

Hospital stays at Lehigh Valley in Allentown and IV hydration three times per week for complications have become the normal for Kelly.

We are hoping we can count on your support to help Kelly live a happy, healthy and independant life for years to come.
