Sri Lanka girls orphanage & Indian Slum children
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Last year I had the privilege to travel to Sri Lanka and volunteer at a girls' orphanage where I supported the educational and personal development of the young girls that live there. I spent my time trying my best to be a positive source of care in their lives.
The girls at the home have very minimal resources and are a lot less fortunate than us.
Due to the ongoing financial crisis in Sri Lanka, fuel shortages have meant that the girls at the home don't have access to a proper education. This is why the work of volunteers plays a crucial part in setting these children up to have a brighter future, as we nurture and encourage them to grow.
I am going back to volunteer in Sri Lanka on the 3rd of March for a few weeks and then I will be heading to India to volunteer in the Slums of Dehli. In India, I will be working with children who don't have access to formal education and have very minimal resources.
The living conditions in Dehli mean that these children also don't have access to a range of hygiene and health products putting them at greater risk of illness and disease.
I will be bringing as many resources as I possibly can with me for the children however there are over 20 girls who live at the girl's home in Sri Lanka and over 50 children in the slums that I will be working with. To support these children as much as I can, I am hoping to raise some money. This will allow each child to receive as much support as possible. All of the money raised will go towards books clothes, hygiene products, shoes, educational supplies, as well as comfort items such as plush toys.
Any contribution no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated and will make a massive difference in the lives of these children.
I will post updates to show what has been bought for the children so that everybody who donates can see what they have contributed.
Many thanks,
Lucy
