Sri Lanka Medical Emergency

Hi, my name is Tan. My wife, Katy, and I are fundraising for the medical community in Sri Lanka so that they can offer basic medical care to the population.

I was born in Sri Lanka and, as a practising UK surgeon, have trained many doctors from Sri Lanka. My friends and colleagues in Sri Lanka have made desperate appeals for basic medical equipment such as sutures, drains, dressings and basic anaesthetic drugs so that care can be delivered to the population.

The current financial crisis in Sri Lanka has meant that hospitals such as the Jaffna Teaching Hospital is limited in delivering care that you or I would think is an absolute right. Elective surgery has been halted or limited so people are suffering with no hope of surgical intervention.

I have managed to reach out to contacts in Sri Lanka including Dr. Thayalan Ambalavaner from the Jaffna teaching hospital and have persuaded a medical supplier in India to deliver essential equipment and medicines to Sri Lanka and Jaffna in particular.

I am raising money which will go directly towards buying this equipment and delivering it to the doctors who can put it to the best use.
