Reuniting Siblings
Donation protected
Hello, I am hoping to raise money for a dear friend of mine, who desperately needs your help to afford a family lawyer.
Our goal that we need to reach is 3600.00.
I’d like to preface and say that the family has looked into free lawyers, they will not take DHHS cases.
I met Corlyn in 2021, when I first moved to Rumford. In these last 2 years, I have come to care deeply about her and her family. She and her wife have a beautiful little girl whom they love with their whole heart, and I will preface to say, they are the best parents you’d ever meet.
Corlyn’s wife, Laura, has 5 adult children from a previous relationship, who are all grown and moved out of their home. One of those adult children, Brianna, suffers from illness.
Brianna, Johnny’s birth mother, has suffered from mental illness, physical illness and abusive relationships for many years. Brianna has given birth to 3 beautiful baby boys, and up until the last little boy, this tight knit family has worked to keep all these siblings together and, in each other’s lives, as Brianna is unable to care for them at this time. When Brianna gave birth to her last little boy nearly a year ago, and although the first two siblings are stationed in Brianna’s siblings’ houses, Johnny has spent his life with a foster mother, in a home away from his brothers. Up until now, Johnny got some visitation with Corlyn and Laura, and got to spend time with his brothers in their home. but that soon, will come to an end.
To prevent this from happening, and having Johnny grow up without his brothers, Corlyn and Laura have let DHHS know that they would love to adopt their grandchild and have him grow up beside their daughter. They love Johnny with their whole heart and want the very best for him, and the very best thing for him is to stay with his true family. The family has spent countless hours following all of DHHS’ demands, going through parenting classes, spending hundreds of dollars on fingerprinting, following a rigid schedule to visit Johnny, has bought a countless number of toys and materials needed for his Foster mom, who couldn’t afford to get them for him herself, and has even undergone home studies to make sure that their home is up to par from DHHS’ viewpoint.
Everything seemed to be going as well as it could, until DHHS let it slip that they had no intention of placing Johnny within their home. This has destroyed Corlyn’s family, and they are terribly saddened and worried about his wellbeing. However, they are not going down without a fight.
They talked to a family lawyer, and the lawyer said that they had a case, and might win Johnny back from the terrible, terrible foster care system. DHHS has put up barrier after barrier to prevent this family from bringing Johnny home, and they really need our help.
The cost to afford the family lawyer is $3600.00, and as much as they love Johnny and want nothing but to love him and care for him and be the family for him that he desperately needs, they can’t afford it, and they need it desperately, and soon.
If you have read this far, my hope for this is that some of these words have resonated in your heart. Every single dollar will help. Anything will help. We pray that this little boy will be able to make it back home, and live life more abundantly and we need your help to do that. Thank you for reading.
Every penny of the help given here will go to hiring a family lawyer that can help get Johnny back. They are NOT SURE which attorney at this time, but once they have the money for it, they will choose. They are currently looking at Chris Berryment.
We will be providing status updates on Johnny as we get them and will post them right here on GoFundMe.
If you aren’t able to donate at this time, then all we ask is that you keep this family in your thoughts, your prayers, and please share this GoFundMe as often as you can.
From the bottom of our hearts we are grateful for any and all help. Thank you so much.
