Help us keep a roof over our heads

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Craig. I’ve launched this GoFundMe as my last resort - I am on the verge of having to surrender the dogs I rescued 6 years ago from the side of the road and losing the roof over our heads. Bonnie & Clyde who I moved mountains to rescue have become my world. Unfortunately a series of events has me in a position that breaks my heart. I can’t envision life without them. If you know me, you might know my story, if not you’re probably wondering how I got here?

The Backstory
Let’s start as the pandemic was releasing its grip for those of us that relied mainly on events for our source of income. The photography business I spent 5 years building after I came off the road as a Tour and Production Manager in the music industry was slow at returning. Beyond stressful, I had to pivot a bit to survive. I relied more heavily on video production than event photography. It really didn’t matter if I was Camera Operator, Still Photographer, A1, Grip or PA, I would do basically anything that was needed to make money. At the end of a corporate shoot, ironically, for a Health Care client here in Michigan, I got Covid for the first time. I had been lucky to avoid getting sick. Over the next 9 months I got Covid 3 times and then GI and Kidney issues followed. I was in so much pain I couldn’t really work for months because it would come and go. One day I was fine the next 4 I couldn’t move. In and out of the hospital for tests and scopes with no clear explanation why all this was happening. In between to try and earn a living I drove ride share (Uber and Lyft) because as we know bills never stop coming, especially when health care is involved. Ride Share allowed me flexibility while still experiencing large pain episodes. The stress and anxiety of it all was a lot. At the same time I was also trying to find a full time job and stop freelancing but was not having any luck. My doctors couldn’t figure out what’s was going on, it was maddening to say the least. I eventually got better with little intervention. Weeks went by with no symptoms. It was a bit of relief but the financial struggle was now real. Hoping this was the end of the physical health issues I took an opportunity shooting a 5 day long conference. I warned the client that I had been sick but all should be good. Midway through that first event back, my symptoms returned. I quietly suffered for 3 days but completed the event in pain. Post event, for months, between the physical and mental struggles working was not really an option but did the best I could. I continued to do ride share, taking the occasional photo opportunity while submitting resumes for full time opportunities but never got an offer. It was a level of struggle I hadn’t been through ever. I did get better, at least physically. Pain free for about a year now but still unable to find employment. Doing ride share became the main source of income until major car repairs were needed and a passenger threatened my life. If not for help from Family and Friends I would probably already be homeless. Unfortunately their help only goes so far and I am back in the hole not having worked the last couple months

My Proposal
As mentioned at the start If I don’t an immediate influx of cash I will lose our house and have to surrender my babies.  Having already received help from friends and family who could afford to give, here I am – humbled – asking for help from strangers and animal lovers to avoid losing them. I struggled asking friends for help, it’s even harder begging those you don’t know. I am not necessarily looking for straight donations (although those are very generous and welcome) instead I want to work for your help.  So here is my proposal:  Hire me for the future. Think of your “donation” really as a deposit now for work to be completed any time in the future. I am open to anything just short of criminal activity but would prefer if you hired me for things closer to my skillset in Photography, Videography, Event Production or Marketing. Below is a list of some services I am offering in return for your deposit/donation to help me keep Bonnie & Clyde and a roof over our heads. You’ll notice there are some opportunities for investments in projects and a charity I would like to start which would help others from having to surrender their pets due to financial issues, which is something I am all too familiar with currently.  Please note since GFM takes a percentage you can also send money directly to us if you would like making sure we get every penny. You can see some of my photography on Instagram (@craigfilms) and my website which needs an overhaul (www.craigfilms.org) Thanks for listening and any help you may provide.
