Lakendrick Cobey Jr.

Stephanie Jones received a phone call on November 29, 2022 at approximately 4:45 pm. This phone call would forever change her life and that of her family. It was a call notifying her of the death of her grandson, LaKendrick Cobey Jr, affectionately called “Kenny.” This is the type of call no one ever wants to receive, but for Kenny’s family, this is now their reality.
LaKendrick (Kenny) was the eldest son of the late Leslie Jackson (death 11/2013) and of LaKendrick Cobey Sr. Kenny was raised in Waldorf, Maryland, by his great grandmother, Maria Crockett, whom he lovingly called "GiGi" and also with the help of his grandmother, Delouise Ann Cobey. Kenny grew into a very caring and sensitive young man. He is described by friends and family as fun, talkative, talented and loyal. If you were Kenny’s friend, you were considered “family.” Through his devoted spirit, he maintained life-long friendships. Kenny also had a love of music. His musical talent was expressed through song and playing the saxophone. Kenny’s ambition was to pursue a career in music. However, on Nov 29, 2022, tragedy struck. Kenny was found dead by his roommate on his apartment steps. This event leaves his family and friends devastated. For his grandmother, Stephanie Jones, this is even more tragic. This is the same day in 2015 that she lost her second daughter (Kenny’s Aunt).
While the circumstances surrounding Kenny’s death are still being investigated, the grief is overwhelming. The family is doing its best to process this loss in addition to facing funeral expenses. In these tough economic times, Kenny had not obtained burial insurance. This is understandable, as no one expects to die at the age of 24. It is with great humility and sadness that Kenny’s family is seeking financial assistance to help cover funeral expenses. Any donation, large or small, is appreciated. All donated funds will be used solely for funeral expenses.
Please keep Kenny’s family in prayer as they process and grieve the loss of their loved one.
God bless each and everyone led to donate. The family really appreciates any help you can provide. If it’s in your heart, please share.
