Please help me raise the cash to put Rejoin EU on the ballot
The UK is suffering from a cost of living crisis primarily fueled by Brexit - and no major political party wants to talk about it!
The Rejoin EU Party exists to put pressure on the big parties to address the issue that's robbing our young people of all the opportunities in life the older generation had.
To get on the ballot at the next election, each individual has to raise £500 as a deposit to stand in the election. This is a barrier to democracy that has to be overcome to even allow debate on Brexit at the general election.
Please help me get together the funds (£500) to stand in my neighbouring constituency, Stretford and Urmston and to fund a leaflet (£1,000).
The major parties’ silence on Brexit is unsurprising: the Conservatives lack any “Brexit benefits”; Labour fears that rapprochement will expose it to accusations of “Brexit betrayal”.
How, then, should those recognising Brexit as the key issue underlying our economic malaise cast their votes? The idea that a Labour government will bring any significant rapprochement having declined to ask for a mandate for one seems fanciful. If it is frightened of taking on Farage and co now, why assume that it will be any less fearful after the election?
Starmer knows that with the Conservatives ideologically committed to Brexit, the fact that voters’ effective choices are limited to the two front-runners in each constituency, frees him from any pressure whatsoever to offer anything significant to Rejoiners to win their support.
So Rejoiners should exert pressure on Starmer by rebelling, voting for the Rejoin EU Party instead. Such a vote is not wasted. The 2.5% achieved in the London Assembly election raised the party’s profile. A heightened profile means a heightened capacity to attract further votes and so on.
We won’t rejoin tomorrow, but even modest support for the Rejoin EU Party at the forthcoming election will bring that day much closer.
