Help Carl fight Cancer
Donation protected
This fund was established for a gentleman named Carl Teeters, who grew up and lives in my home town of Carrollton, Ohio.
Until recently, Carl has worked as a commercial roofer and for the past five years been married to a lady I have known since high
school. Carl has a son and three adult step-children as well as several step-grandchildren and his brother-in-law also lives in his household. His wife's brother is a veteran with both Type 1 diabetes and a non-treatable heart condition that lost his home to Hurricane Florence last year.
Since Carl was the sole wage earner, he ignored not feeling well for months prior to finally seeking a doctor's care over the winter. In September of 2018 his wife, Christina, was hit by a car as she was loading groceries into her mother's car in a parking lot. She sustained injuries to her neck, shoulder, ribs, and bruised several bones. She has been unable to work since that point due to ongoing recovery and physical therapy; she is still unable to lift anything heavier than a laundry basket due to ongoing pain. After extensive testing, Carl has been diagnosed with Metastatic Cancer of unknown origins: The cancer has been found in four locations so far.
Carl has/had no employer provided medical insurance and at this point, they are ineligible for Medicare/Medicaid coverage due to Carl receiving unemployment compensation: This will continue to be the case for approximately 9-10 more weeks. He is being treated by the Oncology Department at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. To date, Carl and Christina owe approximately $10,000 in medical bills (which are still rolling in), and because unemployment does not cover their regular living expenses, they have recently had to very reluctantly rely on the kindness of family and friends in that area as well.
Both Carl and Christina are kind, hard working people and did not seek out any help: They are good family oriented small town people. Actually, despite being very sick, Carl still goes and does day jobs whenever he can find them: He would work full time if his body would let him.
A mutual long-time friend brought their plight to my attention a couple weeks ago and we decided to set up this fund I hopes that it would provide some measure of financial relief. Although several of us have made financial contributions, it is simply beyond the means of our small circle of friends to help them in a truly meaningful way. The added stress of the bills piling up is taking a toll on Christina and it is our hope to relieve as much of that burden as possible.
I would like to thank each and every person who took a few moments out of their life to read this. We truly appreciate any and all contributions. I will be giving Christina full control of the funds gathered on this account: I will not touch the money and my sole roll is to write this small introduction and post updates as they become available.
Have a wonderful day.
