Prayers for Paige

This is Paige, a beautiful young cat mom of one pure white kitten that she has named Riceball. Nearing the end of an already stressful pandemic year in 2020, and at the tender age of 20 years old, my beautiful niece Paige was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Naturally, this was a devastating and scary diagnosis for such a young woman after losing her own mother to breast cancer just six years earlier. Paige’s doctors assured her she was in good hands and with proper treatment that her type of cancer would be survivable and even curable. On her 21st birthday when most young adults are celebrating and having fun, Paige was getting chemotherapy and daydreaming of better days ahead…. Nearing the end of her chemo treatment in April of this year, Paige was told she was cancer free, and that her treatments had been successful.

Follow up scans one month after her cancer treatments had stopped, she was told by her doctors that she had “activity” …. a biopsy surgery this past July revealed a significant cancerous tumor close to her heart that left her medical team perplexed. In August we arrived at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and were informed that Paige has an extremely aggressive and rare form of Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma called Grey Zone Lymphoma. There are no more than 500 cases of this type of lymphoma in the United States. We were informed by her doctors at Northwestern that without immediate aggressive treatment, that there is no chance of surviving this unfair disease without following through with heavy hospitalized chemotherapy, extensive radiation, and a stem cell transplant. The coming days will certainly bring dark and difficult moments but can also light the way to the next chapter of a long and beautiful life ahead. God has a plan.

Paige is a kind care-free spirit that has unconditional love for all living things, and she has a way of seeing the world though the eyes of a child. She is a private, selfless girl that doesn’t want to burden others with her circumstance.

Today, September 1st marks the first day of yet another six-month journey of cancer treatment for Paige. This journey will prove to be challenging for her and everyone involved. Not only has this disease taken its toll on her physically and emotionally, but financially as well. She is unable to work while undergoing these treatments and her bills and new medical expenses will be a burden and an additional stress for which she undoubtedly needs financial assistance. Any monetary help that you can offer Paige will be gratefully appreciated and humbly accepted. If you are not in a position to donate, please say a prayer on her behalf and share this page with others. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Many blessings to you and yours.
