Hello, my name is Laura Brito Liu. I was born in Brazil and moved to the Netherlands as a 3 years old kid.
Now I am 13 y.o. and I’ve been skating since I was 7.
Coming from the country with extreme sub-and tropical temperatures and having quite a challenging time to adapt to completely different climate as a child, I surprisingly ended up falling in love with the ice! ❄️⛸️
I train 5 to 6 times a week. When not able to afford an ice training, I do extra off-ice excercises at home. I am very happy to be a part of the Dutch Figure Skating community: learn from it and contribute to it with all my talent and input. I dream to bring this passion, skills, experience and knowledge back to Brazil - to promote this beatiful Sport there as well and help creating more chances to the very talented Brazilian kids to try out something so exciting and exotic for them!!!
To achieve this, I am trying to first succeed myself as a competitive skater. In the past I had won several local competitions and I would love to successfully perform on the international level one day, representing my country of origin and calling more attention of the Brazilian Community to the Figure Skating.
In 2023 I started competing after 2 years break and in February 2024 I already made it to the KNSB selection podium in my category.
I had to stop because of a growth injury - it was a very tough period, as I was forced to stop doing what I love so much.
I am so happy to be back now and I work really hard to catch up and improve as rapid as possible. After one full 2023/2024 season, I already managed to qualify to the TOP (A) category according to the KNSB rules, and I continue working hard to improve further.
Figure skating is my passion, but it is very expensive and hard to afford for my parents despite of both of them working full time. Training lessons, summer ice, commuting to skate and international camps: to reach a higher level costs a lot of money.
I do need your support to be able to keep up with the extremely high costs of this unique sport, in order to help me realizing my dreams ❤️ and hopefully make a positive change to other kids in the future.
