Help Greg beat cancer

Dear loved ones, my name is Geneva.
I'm fundraising for Gregory Matzke.
I am writing this with a heavy heart, but with hope and expectation. In early January my father, Greg Matzke was diagnosed with Myxoid Liposarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. This type of cancer can grow undetected for several years before symptoms begin to appear. In my dad's case, it has shown to be very aggressive. The mass that was found in his abdomen just one week after Christmas was 8.5 inches and has since then grown to 11.8 inches.
After the initial diagnosis, we contacted medical specialists, both caring and brilliant, which led us to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Unfortunately, on the final day of our weeklong stay in Rochester, Greg fell, which resulted in a broken femur and required immediate surgery. During our time in Rochester, we learned a lot more about his condition, and further tests revealed the cancer had spread to his lung and to his leg which he broke. The pain that these tumors are causing has been the heaviest load to carry and has brought all normal life to a screeching halt. The 11.8-inch tumor pressing against his organs causes difficulty with sleeping, eating and digesting food among other things. He can barely tolerate movement such as a car ride to the doctor. He has been mostly
bedridden as there is almost no relief from the pain. Thankfully, our dad, who is known for his enthusiastic spirit and steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, continues to have a heart of gratitude despite the extremely debilitating physical pain, mental and emotional anguish, and severe exhaustion. Now, after weeks of unexpected delays, Greg has finally started chemo to shrink the tumor.
We anticipate a long road ahead with treatments lasting several more months. My mom, Val Matzke has been his faithful caretaker and has been constantly by his side since my dad’s journey began last December. Even amid so much unknown we are grateful that we never walk alone! During this challenging season we know we will need support.
My mother, my brother Durham and I are asking for help in any amount to bridge the gap between medical bills, lost wages and all the loose ends in this sea of sleepless nights and overwhelming thoughts. We are humbled and grateful for all the support and generosity you have shown to our family during this difficult time. Thank you and God bless you all!
