St. Andrew’s Church Roof Repair Fundraising Campaign 2019 - Stage One
The iconic church on the hill in Bosidale needs your help.
Located In Boisdale, Nova Scotia, St. Andrew’s parish has existed since 1850. The same cornerstone laid in 1929 still proudly sits in this beautiful stone church and has been witness to moments close to those in our community and those who have moved far and wide, but keep Boisdale close to their hearts.
St. Andrew’s is the setting of memories for many of us as a place of worship, warmth and celebration. It has given us a place to gather to bring new life into the world and to celebrate those who have passed on from us. A place to be joyous and find comfort. We think fondly of the memories St. Andrew’s has given us, and on reflection, the time has come for us to give back to this historic monument.
The church is in need of repairs to bring the building back to its original footprint. As the community grew over the years, additions were added to the church to accommodate a growing need for additional places to worship and gather. After time, these additions have deteriorated and the plan to begin the restoration of St. Andrew’s was launched.
With a goal of restoring the original 1929 footprint of St. Andrews, the exterior additions of the church will be removed in a specialized fashion to preserve the integrity of the building. This step will reveal expert stone work that has been preserved for several decades. This will expose the original exterior of St. Andrews and allow the St. Andrew’s Management team to move forward with our long term goal of restoring and preserving the church for generations to come.
To accomplish this endeavor, we hope to call on the support and kindness of the friends of the community of Boisdale, far and wide. It is with your support that we will be able to restore St. Andrews to its original design.

Where your kindness will go…
We are starting this campaign with the goal of raising $12,000CAD to begin work on the roof and removal process for the exterior additions. All funds raised by this campaign will be used SOLELY for the roof removal project in the community of Boisdale. These funds will be used for structural repairs and are not associated with the diocese. In the event that you help us surpass our goal, any funds remaining will be used in upcoming stages of the restoration project.
Why we need your help…
Resting under the exterior additions to St. Andews is expert stonework in pristine conditions. With planning and heavy equipment, the removal of these additions can take place while preserving the stonework underneath. Our hope is that this familiar building will be around for many years to come and be an icon on the hill to those coming home to visit.
