St. Chris Nurses United - Pregnant Nurses Fund

We, the Nurses of St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children Nurses United, are raising money to support our fellow nurses at St. Christopher’s Hospital who are pregnant or who recently gave birth.  The new owners of our hospital, Drexel University and Tower Health, have refused to honor these nurses' earned time off and now they are left with no way to pay themselves during their maternity leaves. This is earned time that nurses had saved by foregoing vacation days, some for years, so that they could take a full 12 weeks off from work to care for their newborns without loss of pay.  Drexel and Tower have decimated these time off funds and our Nurses are devastated. 

The nurses of St. Christopher’s dedicate our lives to caring for the sick children of North Philadelphia. Under the new ownership of Drexel University and Tower Health, we as caregivers are being denied the opportunity to bond with and care for our own newborns.    

Since October of 2019, when we learned that Tower and Drexel had purchased our hospital, we have appealed to both the President of Drexel, John Fry, and the CEO of Tower, Clint Matthews, to safeguard the earned time off for our nurses on maternity leave. To this day Drexel and Tower still refuse to honor their time. 

We will not sit by and let our Nurses lose time off with their newborns. We are asking anyone that can to donate to our cause and help our Nurses.
