Mission Under Grace - St Edward Special School, Kenya
Donation protected
Mission Under Grace in Kenya looks after 308 children, most of them orphans. They continue to be on edge of starvation and malnutrition. The school, St Edward Special School, and the orphanage has 17 teachers, cooks, and security guards.

Teachers are only paid an average of US$40 to $80 per month, about 1% of what teachers in the west get paid. Yet, they need to decide to either pay teachers or pay for food.
They need food and basic things...
Toilet paper per month: 23 cents per child (308 children)
Girls sanitary items per month: 94 cents per girl (130 girls)
Shoes: $20 per child
Bibles: $8 each
School Story Books: $4 each
School Text Books: $6 each
Chairs: $10 each
Teachers per month: $40 (8 teachers not yet funded)
Cooks and Security Guards per month: $40 (not yet funded)
2 Bulls for ploughing land: $624 each
Milk Cow: $900
Cow Shed: $500
Water tanks for drinking: $655 each (4 needed)
Dining Hall/Church floor tiles: 50 cents per tile (2400 needed)
The list of things needed is much longer than this.
Most importantly, we have been helping them buy land so they can grow food to become increasingly independent. We helped them to progressively purchase 10 acres, which is already helping to feed the children with maize and beans. They need a further 8 acres to grow more food and sugar cane (cash crop), which will cost about $23,000.
We visited the school and orphanage in 2023 and 2024 and can attest that they are doing everything they can to improve the conditions for the children under their care and have used donations for the purpose for which they were provided. We are in constant contact and we will visit again in 2025.
A school without books and children without basic sanitary items, while so many of us fill our houses with things we don't need, leads me to ask for a contribution for a very worthy cause.
Even the smallest donation goes a long way in Kenya!
