URGENT APPEAL: St Giles Pre School
JUNE 2023 UPDATE
We would like to update you on the progression of the pre-school over the last couple of weeks. This has been a challenging time for everyone, and we thank our wonderful parents for their continued support. Since our urgent appeal for help and support via local press and this page, we have had an amazing response from the public, parents, and local businesses and organisations. We are over the moon to confirm that St Giles Preschool WILL BE STAYING OPEN in September 2023 and for the foreseeable future.
We would like to thank everyone who has come forward to help us in our hour of need, whether that has been through positive messages of support or donations. We feel really confident moving forward; we have a full team coming on board for our committee, and lots of plans for the future to continue improving our setting. We also are in a much healthier financial position moving forwards thanks to all our wonderful donors, and a number of companies who have contacted us directly to pledge some incredibly generous donations.
UPDATE: MAY 2023 URGENT APPEAL PLEASE READ OUR PLEA
Sadly, St Giles Preschool has now fallen into a critical position and we are now facing the possibility of closure in July. We had hoped our efforts and your donations, which are very much appreciated, would have safeguarded us to move into the new academic year in a healthier place. This unfortunately isn't the case and we now need your help more than ever in raising funds. The minimum target we need to allow us to return in September is £10,000. We have under two weeks to reach our target as we have to make our decision about reopening by the 9th of June. This situation is devastating for us all, but this is our last chance to find a way to continue serving families in the community.
** PLEASE NOTE** If we do not succeed in reaching our full target, and preschool closed on the 21st July, any funds raised will go towards any unpaid bills and redundancy costs.
We are one of the longest-standing preschools in the area, serving families in West Bridgford for the last 50 years, and we want to reach many more milestones— but we can’t do that on our own.
There aren’t many settings like ours, we’re a charity that’s run by a voluntary committee on a non-profit basis, so we have to work on fairly tight budgets.
As you may be aware, the Early Years sector is in crisis. Underfunding by the government has sadly led to a shocking 5000+ settings closing down over the last 12 months. And we certainly don’t want to add to that statistic.
In a financially uncertain world, with current government funding not covering our costs, as well as the cost of living rising. We do need to urgently raise a minimum of £5000 to help ensure the future of St Giles is not in jeopardy.
Your donations will enable us to invest more in the children and safeguard their future.
Would you, therefore, consider being part of the solution? Do you live in West Bridgford? Maybe you’re one of the many people who’ve benefited from the preschool over the years. Or maybe you’re in support of local independent charities like ours? Whoever you are, and however you’ve landed on this page, we’d be incredibly grateful for whatever contribution you can make – small or large.
Therefore, please consider helping us reach our target to give us that financial breathing space we all need to ensure our future is not in any obvious jeopardy and to enable us to continue to offer a safe, fun, nurturing environment where our children can build confidence in preparation for the big jump into school life.
