St. James Town Emergency Food Relief
Donation protected
Help us feed hungry families this winter lockdown!
We are currently providing over 200 emergency food boxes every two weeks through a short-term emergency Canadian Red Cross grant . However, we have had to close our food box sign-ups because we are receiving too much demand, and we are watching the waitlist of hungry families grow.
The need within the St. James Town community is immense, and you can help!
St. James Town is among the neighbourhoods hardest hit by the COVID-19 in Toronto’s downtown core. The pandemic has exacerbated food insecurity in the high-density neighbourhood from job loss, income loss, and mandated isolation. As a community-led organization, the St. James Town Community Co-op is working with community members and partner organizations to deliver high-quality and culturally appropriate grocery boxes and prepared meals to combat the growing food insecurity in this difficult time. We are acquiring fresh vegetables and eggs from local GTA farm allies where possible and purchasing the remainder of the food from high-quality sources.
Please donate and help us fulfill the demand for this service.
For $10, you can buy a home-cooked meal for an isolated resident.
For $20, you can buy a nutritious grocery box for an individual or small family.
For $40, you can buy a nutritious grocery box for a large family.
For $120, you can buy nutritious groceries for 3 families
For $400, you can buy nutritious groceries for 10 families!
All donations will go towards providing healthy and culturally appropriate dried and fresh foods to St. James Town residents experiencing food insecurity.
Thank you for your support!
Project Goals:

- To supply over 300 prepared meals to isolated residents
- To provide food-based educational workshops and resources to increase pandemic emergency food preparedness in the neighbourhood
- To step towards creating a more food secure neighbourhood
