St. John's sponsors a Ukrainian refugee family
Donation protected
Do you agonize over daily headlines about Russia's invasion of Ukraine? Now's your chance to make a difference:
St. John's Episcopal Church is welcoming a Ukrainian family to rural Halifax County, Va. These good people are part of the largest refugee crisis in Europe since World War II. Nearly 8 million Ukrainians have already left their country for safer places. They don't really want to be here; they'd much rather be back in their lively, modern, culture-rich nation. Until that's possible again, they are in our midst.
Your donation will help sustain them with groceries, clothes, transportation, and housing until they are on their own two feet in the United States - within about three to six months, we hope.
If you'd rather contribute via another avenue, send a check payable to St. John's Welcome Circle Fund to: P.O. Box 905, Halifax, VA 24558
"When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt." - Leviticus 19:34
In the event financial proceeds are raised in excess of what is necessary to sponsor the Ukrainian family, any and all such proceeds shall be used to either sponsor additional Ukranians fleeing their war-ravaged country, or other refugees in need. In the event in-kind contributions are raised in excess of what is necessary to sponsor the Ukrainian family, any excess shall be used in a manner to help needy families in our community and/or beyond.
