St Mary's Church, Mellis

Just over 5 years ago Mellis Church was under threat of closing. If we, as a community, could not raise £6,000 a year for the upkeep of the church, it would close permanently. So far in the last 5 years we have managed to come together as a community and raise enough funds every year to keep the church open and thriving. The church is the heart of the community, with the local primary school coming to regular Church services.  

Over the time, there has been lots of fundraising for the church, such as coffee mornings, flower festivals, jazz nights, Christmas Fayres, Candlelight Carol Concerts and many more. However, due to the coronavirus and government guidelines, our church has had to close and no fundraising can be done in this time. At this time, we have had to cancel: 3 coffee mornings, our annual Easter Egg Hunt & one of our annual afternoon tea. Currently, our church can last until June with closed doors. After this, our church may never open its doors again unless we can fundraise online. 

With your donations and help, we can keep our local Church open and thriving. The community can keep using the Church for prayers, fundraising venue, weddings and so much more. Any donations are welcome, big or small. In these hard times, we understand not everyone can donate.
