Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Saint Petka Serbian Orthodox Church, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause, it means so much to us!
St. Petka is a Serbian Orthodox parish founded in May 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee by refugee families displaced by the Bosnian Conflict in the early 90’s. Hundreds of thousands of Serbs were displaced from their homeland and countless numbers were “ethnically cleansed.” Most lost their homes and found themselves scattered throughout the world. Between 2003-2012, thanks to the generosity and compassion of our Orthodox Christian brethren, our Serbian community celebrated church services in two of the city’s Greek Orthodox churches, Holy Trinity and St. John Chrysostom.
We purchased our current home, 1712 5th Avenue North, on December 17, 2012. Our first service was Christmas Eve, January 6, 2013. Since the day we took ownership, we have given of ourselves spiritually, materially and physically, to renovate a 100 year old church which had fallen into a state of disrepair over the years. Our parishioners have made a place where we can gather to worship freely, to socialize and communicate in our native tongue, enjoy and share our traditional food, customs and music. Our parishioners are a huge asset to Nashville and to the Salemtown/Germantown communities. We are good neighbors and proud goodwill ambassadors.
Much work is yet to be done - please consider a contribution to help us meet our financial obligations and to help us to continue to serve the spiritual needs of our Serbian community, our Russian community and our growing community of Christian converts to the Orthodox faith. All are welcome and invited to join us in celebrating our good and blessed fortune in the United States.
