One of the major problems students from the regions face while studying in Yerevan is the challenge of housing and associated financial issues. The goal of this project is to provide housing and support to those students from Armenia’s regions, who have a great potential and a dream to become a change in their community. With the help of the raised funds we aim to:
- Create a comfortable campus/dorm, a “home away from home”
- Help students adapt to the life in a big city through a “buddy program” that pairs new students with more senior fellow students.
- Provide non-formal educational, intellectual and leisure programs through targeted workshops and invited speakers, to raise the students’ competitive standards and preparedness for the future.
- Seek out and involve the students in various internships.
- Boost self-education and develop students' skills crucial for the modern job market.
- Create a wide and strong student network/community.
- Encourage the students to return and develop their own regions by creating new jobs and opportunities in rural areas.
“Student’s Home”, located at 20 Malian st. Yerevan, 0096, will host about 45-50 students and at the same time about 90-100 students will be able to participate in the non-formal, intellectual and leisure activities on the campus. Currently, 75% of the construction of the dormitory is completed with funds donated by benefactors and sponsor companies. The funds collected with this fundraiser will be used for finishing touches on the dorm, furnishings, appliances, and library.
We believe that by creating a conducive environment and investing in capacity-building of students from the regions, we will be directly and effectively investing towards the development of the regions of Armenia. Please, help us reach this goal!
